The Big Challenge: Weight and Sickness

“The National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023 found that 54.4% of adults in Malaysia are overweight or obese. This means more than half of the adult population is currently struggling with their weight—an urgent and escalating health crisis.”

Let’s be real. Malaysia has a problem. Over 50% of Malaysian adults are now overweight or obese.

This is serious. Being overweight isn’t just a number.

It directly links to rising Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Think diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

Being overweight puts us at much higher risk.

These diseases often require long-term medications, and they can steal your energy, happiness, and future.

It could also put you in a financial setback due to consultations and medications.


The Sedentary Trap

Why is this happening? We are sitting too much.

Modern life is often sedentary. Desk jobs, long commutes, hours on the phone. We move less.

This inactivity is a silent enemy. It slows your metabolism. It weakens your muscles.

It causes constant fatigue, low energy, and joint pain.

Do you feel drained? That’s the sedentary trap. You deserve to feel strong, not tired.


My Approach: Sustainable Health, Malaysian Style

Forget extreme diets. Forget cutting whole food groups. My coaching focuses on long-term weight management and feeling good. We keep it sustainable, realistic:

1. Balance: We use the ‘Quarter, Quarter, Half’ plate. You can enjoy Nasi Lemak and Chap Fan. We just make them smarter.

Let’s be real, bringing a scale around for all your meals, or counting the exact calories, can be quite a big move, which is why I strongly advocate the SukuSukuSeparuh method.

2. Enjoyable Movement: We find activities you like. It doesn’t have to be a gym. It just has to be consistent.

Spent some time on Social Media lately? When they say that you have to basically live in a gym 24/7 in order to be like them?

Well, you might not need to do all of those to kick-start your health journey.

Start by doing something you enjoy or used to enjoy, and go from there.

It could be walking around your neighborhood or the nearby park, you could even get lots of daily steps in from walking at the mall!

3. No Starvation: We manage weight by creating healthy habits, without extreme calorie deficits.

When we have to erase half of our daily intake of food, it requires a lot of motivation and willpower.

What if you create healthy habits that stack over time, and gradually lose that weight, and get to maintain it?

That’s why I’d call it a non-diet weight loss, my dear Malaysians.

Cuz most people would say they’re on a diet when trying to lose weight. THE FIRST THING THEY SAY!
